The humanitarian impact of Israeli-imposed restrictions on access to land and sea in the Gaza Strip

By UN (OCHA oPt) |
August 19, 2010

Over the past ten years, the Israeli military has gradually expanded restrictions on access to farmland on the Gaza side of the ‘Green Line’, and to fishing areas along the Gaza Strip coast, with the stated intention of preventing attacks by Palestinian armed factions. The findings of this study indicate that this regime has had a devastating impact on the physical security and livelihoods of nearly 180,000 people, exacerbating the assault on human dignity triggered by the blockade imposed by Israel in June 2007.

    The buffer zone might have something to do with Gazans planting bombs instead of crops.

    What ignorance! Do you honestly think farmers are planting bombs or firing missiles?!.. they are just poor ol' farmers trying to feed their family. Study history and you will find farmers are the first to be persecuted in stolen lands. Just think about it.
    Realize you mind is being poisoned with nonsense by the colonial empire to take over lands and resources of a helpless people. WAKE UP and stop being a zombie of the empire!! Get unplugged because you are being a tool for their agenda without knowing it... unless you like it.

    @Basem
    Uh huh. There was nothing like a blockade or "siege" as you call it until AFTER all the Israelis LEFT Gaza and the Hamas and other 'peace activists" attacked Israel with 1000's of randomly aimed missiles, planting bombs along the fence, tunneling underneath to make guerrilla attacks...etc. etc.
    Why not blame Egypt? Gaza has a border with them too. No it's because there are 2 many crazies running Gaza and making prisoners of their own people. Never mind the Jews/Israelis..they're still at  war with Fatah.

    Shopping malls, swimming pools, 5 -star hotels in Gaza.

    Cry me a river.
