Gazan Palestinians took to the sea yesterday to honour the international humanitarians who were killed by Israeli forces in the eastern Mediterranean. A fleet of small crafts sailed across the coast in Gaza, waving Turkish and Palestinian flags, and pictures of Turkish Prime Minister Rajeb Tayeb Erdogan, who condemned the Israeli atrocities, and Shaykh Raed Salah, who was attacked on board the Mavi Marmara and later detained by the Israelis.

Several prominent people took part in the marine demonstration, including Mohammed Kaya, the official representative of the Turkish humanitarian relief organization IHH.

Palestinians threw flowers into the sea for each of the 19 murdered peace activists. They are calling on the world community to send more ships to break the siege. In the meantime, another ship, the Rachel Corrie, is continuing its journey to Gaza. It is due to arrive on Saturday morning.
